Hi, there are multiple motivations for the research on machine consciousness. I
One, is understanding human consciousness, and undertanding what does it mean to be human.
Other, which is much in the line of Conscious-Robots.com web site, is to be able to build more useful robots, social robots, health care robots, etc. It is supposed that consciousness is a desiderable feature in a robot designed to interact with other conscious beings.
