Consciousness and Emotions - 2006/12/30 13:57 Emotions are a key aspect of consciousness phenomena. As such, they shouldn’t be neglected in the engineering of machine consciousness applications. Indeed, most of machine consciousness projects deal with the issue of reproducing emotional states in the system. See [1] for an example. Emotions and consciousness evolved together in nature providing the environment and “self-performance” sentience needed for survival. If emotions are a good way for mammals to face the world, they could also be a good mechanism for robots facing complex problems. Comments on this are welcome in this forum.
