Getting P3 DX SONAR readings in MSRS - 2007/07/03 13:40
I was thinking of using the inbuilt frontal SONAR array of the Pioneer 3 DX for navigation using MSRS, however I didn’t seem to find a kind of predefined ARCOS SONAR Service within the current MSRS CTP. I asked about this in the MSRS forum and this is the answer I got:
If you subscribe to the ArcosCore service you will receive Replace notifications. This contains the complete state of the ArcosCore service everytime that it changes. Included in that state is a member Information which in turn contains a List of sonar readings in the member Sonar. Alternatively a specific ArcosSonar service could easily be written to simplify access to this data. Gripper functionality is not explicity implemented in the ArcosCore service, but that service does expose the ability to send any command to the ARCOS board on the Pioneer, so writing a simple Gripper service would be an interesting exercise.
So I am trying now to write an specific SONAR service that could be used by any robotics application for the P3 DX…
