How to buy a Sony Qrio robot? - 2007/12/19 14:31
A user of conscious-robots.com sent this question via email. The answer is that Sony decided to stop all their commercial activities in the field of robotics in the beginning of 2006. Therefore, both Aibo and QRIO robots were discontinued.
Indeed, QRIO (which is actually the next generatio after the Aibo ERS-7) never went commercial, the commercial project was aborted and was never launched as a product.
You'va probably seen some videos of Sony Qrio prototypes that are used for research. For instance, I know the CMU have been using some units for research. But, what is for sure is that you cannot buy them from Sony as they don't exist as a commercial product.
