  • XCR-1 Robot. Sound direction detection demo
Sound direction detection demo using the Haikonen Architecture in the XCR-1 Robot In this experiment, Haikonen’s XCR-1 robot detects the sound direction information and integrates it with the wheel drive so that the robot is able to home in on the sound source. Note that in the beginning of the first episode the robot is moving on its own initiative and the command "robot!" captures the robot's attention and the ongoing activity is terminated at once. The "ears", two electret microphones and their preamplifiers are located on the each side of the robot. Sound direction is determined by the re...

  • Graduate Fellowships - CI & Games at UNR
UNR offers two PhD fellowships up for grabs starting next year, open for all research areas, though we would certainly like to see applications from the ci-games community. Our faculty in that area are: Kostas Bekris - motion planning, simulated roboticsBobby Bryant - ANN, GA, simulated biological intelligenceSushil Louis - evolutionary computation You must get accepted into our PhD program to receive a fellowship. The deadline for fall 2012 is February 28, for both the fellowship application and the graduate program application. The following links provide the necessary information: http...

  • 2012. The Alan Turing Year
2012 The Alan Turing Year A Centenary Celebration of the Life and Work of Alan Turing June 23, 2012, is the Centenary of Alan Turing’s birth in London. During his relatively brief life, Turing made a unique impact on the history of computing, computer science, artificial intelligence, developmental biology, and the mathematical theory of computability. See http://www.turingcentenary.eu/ (http://www.turingcentenary.eu/) for more details and related events around the world. A remarkable example is the AISB/IACAP World Congress 2012, where several symposia related with Turing (http://events...

  • EAIS 2012
EAIS 2012 2012 IEEE Conference on Evolving and Adaptive Intelligent Systems Deadline extended: February, 15. 2012. This EAIS Edition will be held in Madrid, Spain, between May 17-18, 2012. One of the important research challenges today is to develop new theoretical methods, algorithms, and implementations of systems with a higher level of flexibility and autonomy, we can say with higher level of intelligence. Intelligent systems should be dynamically evolving and be able to adapt and learn. That is, the system must be able to evolve, to self-develop, to self-organize, to self-evaluate a...
